About Bill Florac
Hi,
Welcome to my Blog on my openACN development. Here I hope to keep all involved as to what I’m up to and where I’m going. And, perhaps stir a little feedback.
For those that do not know me, I work for Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc in lovely Wisconsin. I generally work outside the group of engineers that work on ETC network products and none of the code provide in my openACN work comes from that development effort. With this, ETC has graciously donated my time and code towards this project. As such, developing openACN is only a part time role for me and sometimes other projects take me away from it.
My focus is to develop a “small” library and set of demo applications that would allow even the smallest developer to get going on the ACN protocol with minimal effort and cost. We at ETC want the ACN protocol to flourish and we hope this will help in this effort. While openACN may grow over time, my initial effort is to allow it be built and developed on a small embedded board.
I’m also the author of the Wireshark dissector for ACN so if you have comments, suggestions, questions, grips or just want to send me a check, you can contact me.
For a historical note, I’m also one of the original authors of the DMX-512 protocol.

Bill, wish I knew more about coding so I could understand this better. Regardless the development of ACN is exciting to me and keep up the fantastic work with it!
(and thanks for DMX, I’m glad I’ve never had to be in the world before it.)
