Springer Fever

January 15th, 2009 No comments

Well it -6°F here in Wisconsin but I’m getting the fever. I planning a mid June start for this years 2 week trip. I’ll be starting at Fontana Dam where I left off last year. A few friends have mentioned that they would like to go with me but I’m not holding my breath. I feel a bit more comfortable walking in the wood alone now have having one trip under my belt.

Last year, I left Joe at Fontana Dam and have not heard from him since. I sent his parents a care package and asked them to forward it on to him. Not sure if he ever got it. I also attempted email but Joe had admitted that while he has an account he seldom checks it. Perhaps he is still wondering somewhere? He has expressed some interest in heading south and volunteering as a carpenter for some charities. Who knows?

I need to update my gear list with comments from last year. Boots I had suck, hydration pouch sprung a leak, tent was never used.. I need to find a good means to test boots but the only way I know is to buy a pair, get them soaked and then walk in them. But I’m not sure the store would take them back if I don’t like them…

Well, that’s it for now.
